The Unearthed Blog

Strong Web Directories

Regardless of the type of site you have, whether it is purely informational or a full blown e-commerce site, it is always worth budgeting for subscription fees to the strong directories.
The sites where you have to pay a fee to be able to list them have that fee for a reason; they are widely used, and often have an in-house marketing team working full time to manage the site (Aviva, V7N, BOTW - To name but a few!).
This means they can filter any spam out, and can take the time to review each site that wants to be listed to filter out the poor quality ones, and ensure their site only lists credible, desirable sites.

Also, your site will be reviewed as to its suitability and accepted into the directory listings quicker than with non subscription sites, as they will often have large backlogs of sites waiting for approval.
As a result, they run the risk of becoming a link farm – something search engines such as Google pay no attention to, and are, in actual fact, illegal.

Possibly the biggest advantage when using a paid directory is that they attract the heaviest traffic – they themselves spend money on ensuring they are high up in the search engine rankings, and are popular sites to visit themselves. This is then transferred to the sites they are listing, as customers are more likely to trust their content.

V7N - Could it get any better?

“Traffic and Backlinks are two of the most traded commodities on the internet. If you’ve got a growing blog or website you need to establish your credibility and visibility within your niche. While there are many ways of going about this, submitting to web directories is one of the most rewarding, because the payoff is targeted traffic and a (hopefully) quality backlink.

Quality > Quantity

There are literally thousands of low Page Rank web directories that allow free submissions to your listings. However these won’t get you very far towards achieving your goals. Much like search engines, only a select few directories matter in establishing your authority within a niche.

V7N is one such popular directory that I will review today. The V7N directory has excellent search engine saturation with over 109,000 pages indexed by Google at this point of time. With a Page Rank value of PR6, you can be rest assured that your blog or website will receive a quality back link that will both be targeted and relevant to your niche. V7N has a very extensive category structure that ensures accurate targeting to your audience, and its forums are one of the most frequented on the web.

For a one time fee of $49.99, you can get a permanent registration and link back from V7N. Over the course of time, this amount is peanuts compared to the ROI you will get in site traffic and the increase in your Page Rank as the directory grows even further.”

The Do Follow List

The D List!

I’m sure by now most of you will have heard of the D List or DoFollow list of blogs. Well here’s my addition to it, feel free to carry it on using the guidelines below.

***Begin to copy here***

1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra link back.

2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.

3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.

4. Add at least 1 new blog that you KNOW is using the DO FOLLOW plugin to the list in the “My Adds” section. (Add no more than 5!) Let the people you’ve added know, so that they can keep the list going! (Link all the blogs in your post too!)

5. Leave relevant comments on the blogs listed and get a link back to your site thanks to Do Follow!

Advice on Spyware….

ParetoLogic Anti-Spyware, as its name implies, is an anti-spyware tool designed to detect and remove malicious threats from Microsoft Windows computers.
There is a scanning technology which is based on a growing spyware database and real-time blocking to prevent infection of malicious items by monitoring Internet and system activity.
This is the most recent version of the product; XoftSpySE is its predecessor.
ParetoLogic Anti-Spyware includes a real-time blocking tool (referred to as “Active Protection”) designed to prevent malicious software from installing and gaining control or altering computer system functionality.

SEO Articles

While article submission isn’t anything shockingly new to the world of SEO, many people STILL don’t do it… and for good reason. It takes so incredibly long to do manually.

I’ll admit, I had tried article submission at one point, but after I finally found a few article directories to submit my articles to, and then after manually copying and pasting my information into the required text boxes on each submission site, I quickly realized that my time could be better spent doing something else.

So i poked around on some forums and boy is there some shocking software out there! Most of the software companies boast “SEO Friendly Submission” and “Guaranteed #1’s on Google!”. Bollocks! Any SEO worth his weight in code knows that you can’t GUARENTEE #1’s or even 1st page results, you can merely promise to try your hardest and if that doesn’t work, then damn well try harder! And if that means sitting for hours upon hours submitting your article to the major Article directories and distributors then so be it!

OR perhaps not!

Writer’s block…

So it’s been nearly 24 hours since I first installed my blog and I haven’t got a clue what to write about.
Now I know you’re not supposed to force creativity, but what good is a blog if I have nothing to say!?

I think I will start with some websites I frequently visit and see how we get on from there.
